Has anyone ever rebuilt the front driveshaft CV joint in a 00 Explorer. Mine went out in my AWD Explorer and the dearship wants two arms and three legs for a new driveshaft. None of the auto part chain stores carry it, and i can't find any local store to rebuild it. Is there a kit to rebuild it? Has anyone else had the CV joint go out?
My wifes 99 model went out. I had a drive shaft made. It's built like an "old style" shaft. Check out some places were you live that build shafts. Check with a truck dealership. Kenworth dealer for example. I had one done for around $150. They had to have the old shaft. They used parts off the old one It doesn't have to have that style cv joint. One I had done has a double u-joint like in the old 4 wheel drives. Where are you located? later

Reason: forgot some info.
Quick update. (too many college projects due at the same time)
It does have a CV joint at the transfer case, not the dual u-joint. I ended up buying one off the internet and had it shiped 2nd day for $450. The dealer wanted about $700. I tried all the local shops, but no one could do it.
