i just got a 1965 f250 and I have been lookin around a little bit for some parts, but most places do not offer much for this year, is any other year or model compatible with the truck? or what will work with a little modification? any help would be great. thanks
also can anyone give me some stats on it? like what kind of motor , etc. im really new at this and this is my first vehical and im really excited because for a first car i got a nice project on my hands.
For 65 , you have either a 240 or 300 in line 6 or a 352 V8 for engines. Many of the 240 6cyls were swapped out for 300's in later years. THe 352 V8 also was swapped out for 360-390's from later trucks. They're identical size wise. You can use parts from a 66 as it was the same body and suspension, only minor variations in trim, grille, etc....Some stuff from the 61-64 trucks can be used, depends on what it is. For suspension, you can go up to 72 for direct compatability. Many people are swapping the front drums for disc brakes from the 73-79 series trucks. Many of the mechanical parts are available thru NAPA, CarQuest, or any good parts store. There are repo parts sellers that have alot of parts in reroduction. Dennis Carpenter, LMC truck, John's F-100's to name a few. Body parts may be the biggest problem, depending on what part of the country you're in. There's alot of NOS parts still out there for these. A good set of shop manuals and parts books are a must! With the part numbers, you can find alot of stuff! I have all the parts books from the 30's thru 1979 and can look up stuff and locate it for you. I'm in Ford parts for a living and can find alot of stuff. Some small stuff is still available thru Ford also.
In short, I wouldn't be afraid to buy the truck for the lack of parts. Many of the members here can help with parts. Just ask!
hey thanks, yea i got the v8, im mostly right now lookin for a rollpan and i really want a phanom grille but have found absolutely nothing, but i am going to see if it will work if i cut one up from another application
I have a 65 250.I would recommend you read the last 600 threads or so on this board.Fix what is not working and drive it a bit before you start to restore/modify it.Safety and mechanical stuff first, then the cosmetic stuff. These are very tough old trucks and they like to work.Good luck with your truck and enjoy!!

I too have said truck, and concur with Daplumma. To help you better we need a little more info, like...Does it run? Parts are for the 250's are available since most are the same as the F-100's...need to know more about what you are looking for.
Welcome and enjoy, 66 F-250, can't beat them!! I just used mine Monday to tow my 16' carhauler down to Fresno and pick up 70 bags of 60lb ready mix, and 10 94lb bags of portland....4200+940+1900(trailer) and she towed and hauled it all back UPHILL without one lick of trouble!!
it ran in spring and plan to go to work tommro0w and try and fire it up, the guy told me all it really needs is a new ignition switch since it is slightly ghetto rigged and it needs a new fuel gauge, the drivers floorpan has a slight crack in it and the pass. side floor is rotted out and i am going to need to either cut it out and totally replace it or i will get sheetmetal and try and patch it up
Blue Oval truck parts has the floorpans, I just recieved a drivers side from them and was happy with the quality. Also ordered the floor brace ends. Wasn't cheaper than making my own but was a heck of a lot easier.
LMC truck has roll pans available in their catalog.
update- it started yesterday, ran and drove, my boss said the carberator needed to be adjusted , and the brakes were working, but when i checked the master cylinder it was out of fluid, so i am buying more and pussting it in tommrow and am going to bleed the brakes? sound right to do? im not too sure about any of this because this is my first project and im only 15 years old

Aint dissin you bud, but do you know how to properly bleed a brake system, starting at the right rear and ending at the left front?
It's easy, but you'll need a friend to help you. Be certain to use newly purchased fluid. You can probably do a search on bleading brakes for detailed info if you need it.
What John said is true, but he didn't explain why...and that's just as valuable too. Basically you start with the longest line which generally is the right rear, then the left rear, then right front, then left front. I generally do it twice, but that is probably not necessary.
I like to share the imput with you guys. Thought if he knew, I would wasting pecking time, an if he didn't another contributer might jump in an do a better job than me.
