hey i have my truck at the shop right now, was going to pick it up today, but the O/D light started flashing again, even though the truck was test driven by two of the mechanics yesterday with no problems. well they still have it and will be checking it out, they said they put in and tried two new raing sensors on the transmission, and didnt fix the problem, they did find two bad wires going down to the raing sensor so they fixed that and everything was ok. now this morning when i went to go pick up the truck we were trying the 4x4low and it didnt light up on the dash, but after moving that switch we started noticeing the O/D light flashing again, and the raing sensor error came back. so they drove the truck back on the lift and they tested again for errors and everything read out fine, with no raing sensor problems? the mechanic told me i may need to get my PCM flashed? dose anyone els agree with that? could the VSS be doing this? fues? any imput would be good..
sorry, i could be saying the wrong part, but it tells the PCM what gear the trucks in. (P,R,N,D,1,2) had to replace that twice, i did pick it up now, no flashing as of yet on the O/D light. but was wondering if flashing the PCM or if 4x4low could also do anything to make the O/D light flash as well is all.
NOW I have it! It's spelled RANGE sensor. Sorry I couldn't figure that out sooner.
Flashing the PCM probably isn't going to help. Since you changed the range sensor twice, that probably isn't the problem. It could be the wiring to the range sensor, the code doesn't only mean that the sensor is bad, it could be the wiring.
the mechanic was able to find two bad wires going to it, and he ran two new ones. sorry, im a horrible speller. my bad.. so its probebly safe to say that there could be more wires falling apart i gues then? well i picked up my truck, no flashing O/D light, and a great new rebuilt tranny with an additional larger tranny cooler, and an inline tranny fluid filter. lets hope the flashing light dosent come back.. but i was just seeing what other possibilities could have caused this is all.
bad wires sounds better then replaceing the PCM..
