I have a 1993 F150 with a 302 that has a knock. It doesnt sound like a thrown rod because it doesnt get louder when I accelerate. The knock is always there whether its cold or warm. Does anyone know what this could be?
an easy way to stop the knock lol .... bardhol oil addant ... i had an engine going out and added it to it and it reduced the blowby and got rid of my knock but if its something major thats a diff story
Sorry I didnt leave more info but I typed up a long explanation and it didnt post so I got fed up and posted a shorter one. So here's the deal. Like i said its a 302. It has 161,000 miles on it. I changed the oil about 2000 miles ago and used 10w-30 and a fram oil filter. Oil pressure is fine, right in the middle of the gauge. If you mean a cracked intake manifold then I know for a fact that the manifold is fine because I had it off recently and both upper and lower look fine. And yes it did knock before I removed the manifold. Any more help would be appriciated. Thanks
no i meant exhaust manifold, these are prone to cracking. remove the fram filter and put anything else on Purolator, wix, motorcraft to name a few. Fram is known for this very issue. and dont trust the stock gauge, its nothing more then an idiot light that moves, install a mechanical oil pressure gauge and tell us what you really are running.
