Engine dies when..

I got a 94 F-150 6cyl. I turned on the heater to get the fog off of the windows and heard a weird noise then smelled a burny electric smell then the engine died. After turning everything off my truck started right up and has been running just fine, except now everytime I turn on the AC or heat the engine shutters and dies. I took the blower motor out today and tried it and it still shuttered and died. Could the ac compressor be seized up? Or the blower resistor or sensors? Please help me on this one. Any ideas? Engine was rebuilt 2 years ago and it has run great and still runs great.

Try disconnecting the wire to the air conditioner compressor clutch. Then try your
heater. If it doesn't die, that would point to the compressor.

Also, have a friend turn the AC on, while you look around with a bright trouble light. Watch the AC compressor, is the belt turning it over, like normal. Slipping? If the compressor is beginning to seize, you'll be able to tell. Also, have the friend put the truck in gear. Put on the brake, then see what happens when the AC, defrosters, ect are turned on.
Turn on headlights, then note if there is a noticeable draw on the electrical system when AC is turned on, ect.
Let us know what happens.
