Would you guys agree that the 97-2003 Escort ZX2 / SR are one of the most reliable cars on the road today? What are some other cars besides the famouse Toyota Camry?
I don't know anything about Escort ZX2s, but my grandmother has a '98 Escort sedan. I cannot get over how cheap and uncomfortable it is, relative to the '89 Escort my father had, and the '00 Focus he has now. The seats are rock-hard, and shaped all wrong, and it's the only automatic I consistently look for a clutch in because I can feel it wanting to stall out when I stop. I can't imagine the ZX2s are that much better...
IMO, neither the Camry nor the Accord is a compact car. I'd say they're midsize.
How about a 92 Nissan Sentra? My girlfriend just got her's back from her daughter who just received a 06 Ford Focus from her soon to be ex-husband.(That's a movie in the making or should be.)
This little car has 156k miles on it, uses no oil, which is dang lucky considering it's probably been changed twice in the past 3 years while her daughter had it.
The zx2 sr was a limited edition made in 99 and 2000, was faster than a normal zx2, I had a 02 zx2 and loved it, that car would run, but the seats were hard. Now I have an 06 focus st, it's not only fast, it's very comfortable and power everything, even moon roof, those duratecs can fly, lots of lowend torque for a 4 cylinder, it will run with v8's and handle's like it was glued to the road. As far as dependability, we had an 86 tempo with the 2.3, My dad drove that car untill last year, it had 214,000 miles on it when he gave to a guy at church that needed a work car and had no money. All we ever did to it was oil changes, tune ups, tires, brakes and 1 altanater. I had an 89 jeep comanche 4x4 with the 4.0, it had 250,000 miles on it when I sold it, all I did was put gas and oil in it. The zx2's were lowend cars, but were fun and sporty with very good mpg. You see alot of them on ebay with way over a 100,000 miles on them, so I would say they are dependable, also quick with a zetec 2.0 and get close to 40 mpg, seat were much to be desired.
Heck no, thier a great little car, very quick and sporty looking, great handling, awesome mpg, and didn't break the bank when buuying one new. They are a very good used car buy, as you can get them form 1,800.00 to 5,000.00 with good mileage. Thier sought after by the fast and the furious crowd now a days. I wouldn't mind having another one just for a build, they were light and would run especailly the manual tranny versions, the sr was really quick, b&m shifter, ebach springs, iceman intake, borla exhaust and hipo computer right from the factory.
Yah it's just to bad I didn't know about the S/R ZX2 before I bought my non ZX2... There are definitely mods for the ZX2 out there which is cool and the parts are really easy to come by believe it or not.
