95 6cly hard starting
My 95 F150 with 6cyl and 205k miles is occasionally hard to start... mostly when the wife needs to drive it.. naturally. It always starts... eventually and run fines. After it starts you can shut off and it will start right back up. It has dual tanks and acts the same on either. I've disconnected the plug from the IAC after start up and the idle does change... so I guess it's working??? Also, occasionally when it does start right up .. the engine races for a few seconds... makes me cringe - my 200K+ mile engine racing dry and cold like that...
Anyway, could the IAC be sticking??? What else?

yes iac could be sticking. many people pull it and fill the ports with fuel cleaner and soak. do this several times to get all the gunk. make sure to use a new gasket to get a good seal. if that doesn't work check the fuel pressure on the fuel injection rail. bad reading may mean your pressure regulator is bad. (see chiltons manual) sometimes fords have had tps (throttle position sensor) trouble but some can be tricky to adjust some don't need adjusting depends on what type you have. hope this helps!
