Fast Idle
This is the first time I have used this forum. If anyone has any advice on how to get the best use of it please let me know.
I have a F-150 shortbed (89). I use it in the winter and park my car to keep the salt off of it. I also have a snow plow whitch comes in handy around here.
Last winter and again this winter I'm having a problem with the idle.It is a 302 engine with EFI. When I push in the clutch the engine speeds up for a few seconds then returns to normal idle. I have driven this and other standard transmissions all my life. This fast idle problem makes the truck hard to drive.
I've had it to two machanics and the Ford dealership. Non have been able to fix it. If anyone out there could help me I would be forever in your debt. I've checked the easy things like trottle cable and air filer!
Thanks!

Sounds like the computer is seeing a load change and kicks up the idle but then see the drop in load and takes a second to drop it back.
At normal idle if you turn on the ac you should hear a drop in rpm folowed by an sharp increase.
Some trucks have a power steering presure sensor aswell for the same reson. check the wirering for that.
