Help, I need a bumper
<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1>So I had a wreck and lost the front bumper (totalled a chevy SUV). Ordered a RoadArmor replacement but it has been delayed for another 3 weeks. The truck is fixed and I have to return the rental but they can't release the truck without a bumper as it is illegal to drive and unsafe. Anyone have a spare they want to loan or sell me? Or can I get away with mounting a 4x10 or something on it? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott

A 4x10 should be sufficient, though I don't know what the law say's about it. I had a truck years ago that I fabricated a front and rear bumper from a big fat length of "I beam" steel. Also, I have seen many vehicles on the road without front and or rear bumpers. I guess the body shop is trying to cover their butts because they are ultimately responsible for letting a vehicle leave their shop in a legal and safe condition. See what the shop says about mounting a 4x10 onto it. The RoadArmor bumper will be awesome. I know it's hard to wait for all of these goodies.
You know, I keep hearing that. Every time I talk to someone who's ordered from them, its always 3 weeks turns to 4, 5, 8 . . . I would think with how many they're apparently selling they could stand to hire another welder, ya think? Ya gotta keep the customers happy or they'll be going somewhere else. You could get a FabFours (in stock usually) and tell Road Armor to pound sand.
release the truck? i hate to say it, and i could be wrong, but its YOUR truck, not theirs.
so, if they won't let you drive it, then have a tow truck come out and tow it to your house and tell them your going to let it sit there. then the "liability" or whatever is out of their hands.
because i would no way in heck let someone tell me i can't have possesion of my own truck when i am paying for it and i didn't commit a crime which would call for it being impounded (heck, a person can even get it out of impound!)
