Explorer Cat's rattling
I have a 1998 V6 Explorer and when I first start it in the morning (or anytime the engine is cold) there is a loud rattle type noise that seems to be coming out of the 2 front catalytic converters. Anyone know anything about this???

It could be loose baffles inside the cat coverter. Once they warm up they could be expanding to eliminate the rattle. It seems odd that they would both be rattling. Has anyone been beating on the converters with maybe a hammer?

It probably isn't both of them, they are close together so it's hard to tell which one it is coming from. That's what I thought about the insides warming up. Just wondering if this is something common. I just bought the Explorer a few months ago.
