I'm confused. I hear there are differences in the frames of the 73-79 trucks. what are the differences and how do these differences affect the fit of the box? The bolt pattern appears to be different. What about the cab, will any 73-79 cab fit on any 73-79 frame?

dan&levi, Welcome to FTE Forums. Make sure to check your messages by bipping User CP on upper left corner of page. make sure to read the few threads on top of this forum.

The cabs from a 1973 to 1979 will interchange.
The steering columns for a power steering and non power steering are not the same.
Some cabs will have mounted on the firewall non power brake and power brake boosters.
The cabs electrical systems changed thru the years from 1973 to 1979.

On The rear boxes on, the box bolt holes on these truck listed are narrower.
The rear frame rail widths on 1973-1977.5 F250 highboy trucks are narrower.
The rear frame rail widths on camper special F250 trucks are narrower.

Not all radiator supports mount the radiators the same.

I don't understand what you mean by "bipping" the User CP or the other part. Please be specific. I am unexperienced with this site.

Well I'm gonna pick this one up again...How different are the 4x2 and 4x4 frames? I suspect the front cross member is different, but other than that???

I'll explain, before getting the search suggestion, which I've already searched. My current 4x4 has a kind of nasty frame, rusted pretty bad. I've got a 75 4x2 that has a good frame. I was thinking about popping the crossmember, spring perches, etc. off the 4x4 and putting them on the 4x2 if the frames are the same. I have the fabrication equipment, welders, torches, BFH's, etc..

On F250's
AFAIK,
Cabs can be inter-changed with cab mounting spot modifications

Beds off NON 73-77 1/2 F250's can be modified to fit any truck with different mounting hole location.

Even with the modification tools save yourself alot of headaches and long nights Find another 4x4 frame and swap over your axles etc. Their's still a few good ones out here, searching for them is half the fun
