Ignition & Door Locks
What seems to be the problem, is your ignition switch bad? Sacramento vintage ford sells the door lock cylinders for 1948-52 (matched pair) for $26.00 pt. # 966-5 but they don't list the ignition cylinder, you can go to any lock smith and have them keyed the same.

My truck did not come with a set of keys and the locksmith I called estimated the cost to be between $65 - $85 to cut the ignition key.
I could only find key blanks at motorhaven, door locks at f100, and the ingnition assembly and door locks for the 1953-56 at dennis-carpenter. What is the web address for LMC?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Sep-02 AT 09:40 PM (EST)]If it's like the 57-60 locks, all you need is a key blank and a couple of jeweller's files to do it yourself. Fitting keys is not brain surgery: if you understand how the cylinder lock works it is obvious how to cut a key to fit (install one pin at a time, file the key until the lock turns, then put the next one in and repeat). Just don't lose the tiny springs when you take the cylinder apart.

I've been looking for new locks for my '51 also. Mine have a door that swings over the keyhole. I've found replacements...but not with the door.
I've been hesitant to take them apart to re-key them myself.
