I was just looking in the LMC catalogue and they do not specify any column parts as diesel or gas, and to the best of my knowledge a Column is a column
In my search for a replacement column for my 88 F350 there were different listings (at car-part.com) for a C6 or AOD transmission. Haven't yet figured out exactly what the differences are so I'm not quite ready to say "a column is a column" but after a cursory inspection I'm guessing you could reuse parts from the old one to "fix" the new one if it didn't match. At least I hope so...
there is no difference in a column for a gas or diesel, the only difference is the shifter pattern, the c6 has the usual p r n d 2 1, the aod is p r n O/D 2 1 and the E40D has an on/off switch in the end of the shifter. as long as the column has the same trans pattern it will work
yeah, the difference in the columns for C6 and AOD were the gear detents (PRND21) for the C6 and (PRNODD1) for the AOD. The linkages are different I think. Also, on your year, the E4OD doesn't have a button on the end of the shifter, its on the dash, next to the *Water In Fuel and Wait To Start* lights.
