I've searched this forum, I've googled, I've asked Jeeves, I've Barnes&Nobled, but I can't find a comprehensive list of Y-block bolt torque, bore tolerance or bearing clearance specs. Can anybody help? Should I use SBC or SBF specs?
Most all of this can be found in the Ford Truck Shop Manual covering '58. The book should specify 95-105 ft.lbs. for main cap torque specs; if not, use that rather than the book listing.
It's not a good idea to use different specs (I figure that wuz a joke anyway about the SBC- perish the thought ) but in a pinch, you can use the standard SAE torque spec chart for U.S bolt diameters & threads. It's usually close to or the same as the factory spec, at least for engines up to the mid '80s. After that you get into torque-to-yield fasteners, bolt clocking, & other squirrely crap.
I know this is old fasioned, but your local library should have a typical collection of "motors" and "chiltons" manuals that lists all that stuff. If not PM me I have a '53 - '60 Motors manual.

Thanks Everybody. I found all the spec I'll need in the 1958 shop manual I got for a mail order place many moon ago. I guess I just got mezmerized by all the great photos and forgot to read the tables.
