Electronic ignition
I have been using a Pertronix II,with no problems, for some years now.Still,I purchased, and carry in my tool box,a brand new spare,so I don't get stranded.I am considering going with either a Mallory or MSD electronic distributor. Is their any concensus on which one is better?Steve

It would depend on the application for me. I bought a Mallory Unilite because they have a dist that does not need vacuum advance. But I will be running 3x2 carbs. If I were running a newer 4 barrel carb I would not hesitate to use the Pertronix in a stock distributor or if starting from scratch a Mallory Unilite with vac advance. The only reason I would stay away from the MSD is the higher price. It was nearly $100 higher than the Mallory when I was shopping.

If it ain't broke...
I've been extremely satisfied with the Pertronix, and you know what they say about "If it ain't broke..."
What makes you want to change? If you want the newer style plug wires why not just update your cap? For the budget conscious, it's the much more cost effective way to update things and eliminate cross-fire inside the cap...
Just my $.02
