crossmember removal
hi all
I'm putting a new clutch in my 95 ranger and was wondering if any one knows any tricks for getting the 2 bolts that are on either side of the trans crossmember out. I got the nuts off no problem but I can't get these stupid bolts out of the sleves, and as far as I can remember the bolt goes through the metal sleve wich is inside of "rubber?" wich equals no heating it. man I wish I could just heat it up and smack it with a sledge. I'm going to put new bolts in but I don't want to have to buy a new crossmember there $250.00 and the one thats on there is still really nice. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try and loosen the bolts by turning them with a wrench and then put the nut back on to protect the threads and hit it with a hammer to drive it out. I had a similar problem with a rear spring bolt and I had to heat up the bushing while turning the bolt with an impact wrench to free it up. I will be replacing the shackle bushings any way, so I was not worried about hurting them with the torch. Good luck.
