O2 sensor and cat. converter safe RTV is popular as an oil seal sealant....i am not convinced that it is the best product there is for gasket to metal and metal to metal sealing....the adhesive qualitities of RTV on a oily metal surface are very poor....i prefer products with higher bonding properties especially for seals that hold back oil or other liquid or gaseous products

Well, a very common thing to do when assembling a small block Ford (and apparently a lot of other engines) is to replace the end gaskets for the intake manifold with beads of RTV silicone rubber. Quite often, the end seals get squeezed out by the clamping pressure of the manifold as it is bolted down. I've seen a lot of engines that had oil leaks at the regular end seals from this problem, but I've never seen leaks there when the seals were replaced with the RTV.

also a major leakage area on Ford V6's including the old OHV Aero designs....Ford has been using RTV products in their engine assembly plants for years...they even spec RTV for sealing the intake manifold gasket corner joints in their Ford Service Manuals....problem still exists

I went too change the spark plug wires! the van wouldn't start! I had too hold it too the floor inorder too get it started when it did it wouldn't stay idleing, just die! when it was running I heard what thought where the valves hitting the pistons!! lots of grayish blue smoke for a while, then cleared up, still isn't Idleing! TIME 4 different motor, I've got one now so on too the motor swap!
