Im running the Shell Rotella 15w 40 right now. Would like to run the Shell Rotella synthetic. My 7.3L has 140,000 miles on it now. Are there any pros or cons for running synthetic. Is this a good Idea or should I keep the 15w 40. I am by no means a oil expert. What do yall think. Thanks
The operational differences are minimal, except for cold weather starting. If you do not need cold weather benefits of a 5W-40 synthetic oil... then stay with what you have been using.
If the 15W-40 is working with so many miles... keep it up. They key is to change your oil and filter like your underwear... very often... clean & fresh is the key to motor longevity.
I concur. I would not hesitate to use the Shell Rotella - T 5w40 oil. No matter where you live, in the USA or Canada. Great oil, for diesel engines.

(superior oil flow, and pumping capibility when used with an initial start of the day, in a cold engine, is the initial reason, I'd switch. Starter, Crankshaft will turn over much easier).
