The hole

On my truck there is a hole in the valley pan right behind the intake that the turbo sucks air out of the engine from. The engine I took out had a rubber grommet with a rubber hose sticking up out of it about three inches but the engine I put in has no grommet just a big steel hole. Does anyone know if the rubber grommet with the hose is an item that can be purchased and if so what it might be called? I am getting close to getting my new engine going but this is a sticking point and I cant decide how to proceed any help would be appreciated.

I thought that might be what that hole was. My turbo kit must get rid of the cdr and runs a hose to the turbo intake pipe to vent the crankcase. I need the described gromet. I wonder if what I described is part of a cdr valve? I have not seen a cdr valve before so I dont know.

the cdr is a tuna can looking thing that is used to vent the crankcase. with the turbo systems, the oil drain for the turbo is set into that hole and sealed with a rubber grommet. the hose you described is the hose that used to connect the cdr to that same hole. the aftermarket turbo systems moved the cdr to the drivers valve cover and i believe the factory turbo system moved it there too. cant remember, i'm old.

I have a turbo engineering system on it. The oil return line is located in the side of the oil pan. The hole I am talking about is where the intake side of the turbo sucks out the crankcase blowby from. I went to the auto parts store today and they could not even find a listing for cdr valve. Any thoughts? I am getting closer to fire up and will need to resolve this problem soon thanks for the help!

What are you going to install in the hole?
If you just need to get rid of it you could block it with a rubber expansion plug.
If you are going to use it as a vent, you need a CDR valve in the loop somewhere to stop the turbo from sucking to much oil mist out of the engine at higher RPM.

There is a splash pan under the CDR hole in the valley pan to keep oil from splashing into the CDR.
There is a splash pan under the CDR hole in my valve cover as well for the same reason.

The CDR size grommet was in the valley pan I bought, I had to change it to a different one for my ATS turbo pedestal and drill holes in the splash pan for the oil to drain through from the turbo oil return through the pedestal.
