Check Engine Light

OK, I give up. First the speedo starts acting flaky, now the check engine light comes on. I disconnected the battery a week ago when it first came on, and it was out for seven days. This morning, it came on again. Is there anyway to pull the code(s) without a scanner? BTW, this all started when I hit 100K.

If you got an AutoZone close by, they will read your computer for free....

Thanks. Question, can they be trusted, meaning if it is an o2 sensor that costs 50 bucks, will they tell me it is that plus a $100 flangele valve?

Just have them scan the computer. Don't let them even try to diagnose it.

Just write down any codes and come back here and do some research.

Ok, got the code. P0125, coolant temp no high enough to enter closed loop operation. Low coolant, bad thermostat? Truck has always run cool in the colder weather, but it has great heat. Suggestions?

I got the same code two winters ago. I replaced the T-stat and ECT sensor and haven't had a problem since.
