so what would be a good way to get rid of noise inside the cab? I want it to be as quiet as possible so I can listen to my music on the highway in peace without sacrificing my glasspacks. I know it sounds ridiculus but I don't care. I was thinking of a layer of that rubberjunk with some jutefelt pad stuffed on top of that.
That rubber junk would be hard to clean up if you decided to remove it later. The felt under carpet would work. Also they make some silver type insulation padding available from JC Whitney and other places. This could be cut and applied under carpet inside doors and above the headliner. You can use spay adhesive or glue. The rubber undercoat could be used inside doors and other areas out of sight. If you are running a rubber floor mat with felt jute backing,Take it out on a regular basis to make sure its dry. It will rust a floor board in a hurry. Also it will rust under undercoating if all the rust is not killed before application.
I don't know what its called, but I used some of that rolled insulation that you can get at most rod suppliers and glued it to the inside of my doors, firewall, floor, and top. It not only cuts down noise, but keeps the car cooler inside also. I used 3M adhesive, but some of it comes with an adhesive backing now.
i went to my local residential insulation installer and he gave me some 1 1/2" compressed fiberglass garage door insulation. i cut the pieces into the right size and stuffed it into all of the areas it could be easily covered. it worked great
