My 05 Exp purchased new last Dec came with Continentals. Have had continual vibration problem. The local dealer had the drive shaft balanced, replace one front tire, told my wife not to drive at the vibration speed, and had the Ford service rep replace both rear tires. Problem improved but not eliminated. Local dealer admitted they could not high speed balance and recommended taking to another dealer. Second dealer said Continentals would not work on F-150's or Expeditions and recommended Michelins. Ford service rep agreed to the swap for Michelins. The rub is they would require for me to pay a difference between the cost of the tires. I don't agree. If I had been told of the problem with Continentals upon purchase I would have gladly paid a difference. After 479 miles running back and forth to the dealer for the last nine mos., being with out the use of the vehicle for 10 days plus the dealer burning 3/4 tank of gas in trying to determine the problem. I think I've alreday paid the difference. Anyone have an opinion, answer?

Opinion...take the offer. Most dealers would just give you the run around and not even offer to replace the conti's with Michelin's. I just forked out $800 for some Michelin's on my '06 and it solved all the vibration and noise issues.
After signing the papers for our '04 Expy, I drove to the tire shop and had the crappy Continentals removed and some Toyo A/Ts installed. I'd read about all the vibration problems and didn't want to deal with them... and I have never had a problem.
Thus, if I were you, I'd shop around for new tire prices. If the dealership offer is a "good deal", then jump on it and stop fretting over the POS Contis.
I bought my 2000 EB 3 years ago with brand new Goodyear A/T. This thing shaked and shimmied (after hitting 50-55 MPG) all over the road for 3 years. The tires began to cup after 3000-4000 miles.
Well 37000 miles later, I put on Michelin 265/70R 17 LTX, and that baby rides like a Caddy up to 95mph. The best $750 I ever spent on tires. This beast feels great around turns, it really feels like the tires are sticking to the road. Also had them road forced balanced.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I now love my EX again
Had pretty much the same experience with my 04!! The dealer screwed around till the tires were pretty well worn and then told me it was the tires. They too offered me a deal to buy tires off of them. I had a serious problem giving them money to correct a problem they knew about the whole time, so I went out and bought a set of Yokohama Geolandar HT-S's. wow what a difference!! The shimmy is gone, the tires stick to the road and handling is much better. It was worth every cent of the $480.00!!
