Its been several months since we've had a thread on what we're going to try and get accomplished over the weekend....
So, lets hear it...what are the plans for the weekend??
As for myself I have been working on the rear of my bed fabricating the rear x-member/roll pan and replacing the stake pockets. I plant to get the steel cut and mocked into place and hopefully start welding it together.
I also plan to do some measuring and thinking (of course this part will involve the required frosty beverages) of how to build my tailgate. The upper and lower rail of my stock 49 tailgate is trashed, I have a late 80's tailgate that I'm going to try and cut down to fit and and replace the center sheet metal section with the one from the 49 gate.
If I get a chance to work on my truck it will only be to start securing the wiring harness under the dash in preparation for the installation of gauges. The donor harness will have a lot of circuits and wires that will not be clipped and cleaned up.
I've run into a little problem with the oem fuel tank sender unit, it operates at 16-158 ohms and the gauges I wanted to use does not support it. Cheap fix is to pull the sender and install an aftermarket sender. Only problem with that is I would have to disconnect a lot of stuff and drop the tank to cut another hole and that's not going to happen.
The weather here has been nice also. Hopefully it will stay that way through the weekend.
I must apologize for my post as I forgot to include that ladies. So, ladies, jump right in there and let us know your plans also
Tom I hate those kind of combatibility issues. I have a faint recollection of a thread dealing with the same sort of issue but it was from along time ago...maybe a year or so. Search around on the internet maybe you can find some kind of fix for it.
Going to be a little nippy the next couple nights as we have our first hard freezes of the season. Looks like Sat I'll need to drive 3hr RT in the AM to pick up some more floor paint for the second and final coat on the garage floor since what I ordered didn't come in to the local store. I'll put it on in the PM.
Sunday I'll spend getting Gracie ready to make her big move.
finishing up fabbing and welding seat brackets so i can mount the bench out of a unmentionable type of truck then possibly pulling the windshield out again so that i can paint the dash again
I'll be helping my neighbor out when I can. He just started sheeting his new garage. I'd like very much for him to help me with mine next year, so.......
Having finished the majority of the sheet metal work, I plan on attaching all of the front clip parts back on the truck to final fit everything to the cab before the bodywork.
I'll be fabbing some struts (like Jag54's) to control the hood shape into the cowl. I'm hoping this operation will be easy since the engine isn't in the way of me being in the engine compartment to measure everything.
Saturday, my buddy is coming over to gawk at my pile of parts, share some frosties and shoot some pool. Then, if time permits, I'll start gapping the hood and fenders.
Willard is going to have to wait his turn. I will be picking up where I left off in the spring with final bodywork. It is put the boats to bed time. I had a little hiccup last Saturday in the storm when my 16 ft workboat with a 70 hp Evinrude flipped in the high wind and waves (salt water). After raising the boat and a thorough fresh water washdown (including inside the cylinders) and drying out I am trying to find out why I have no spark. Any good wrenches out there on an 80's 70 HP Evinrude? If so please PM me since this is off topic.
