plow swap
i was wondering how hard would it be to swap a 7.5 western plow from and 86 f150 (which originally did not have it) to a 97 f350 straight axle.i really dont know much about plows and stuff other than how to take it on and off and do our 900ft driveway.my buddy owns a shop (one auto and another owns a machine shop)so they should be able to do it, but if its going to cost me 1000 dollars i dont know if its worth it.the 86 is pretty much toast so im trying to sell what i can and use what i can. any info appreciated and thanks.

according to my Meyers install CD, the plow frame SHOULD be the same on fords from 84 to 99.
it don't make sense to me that that is true, buy they show all the same part numbers for those 15 years.

Everything should work but not sure about frame mount. I had trouble with mount going from F150 to F250 would'nt clear exhaust and srping mount. And that was (91 to 93) 2 years apart. I know fronts of frames are different. But I have all Myers plows right now. Shop around should be able to find lower frame mount for older 90's truck. They are not that $$$ .I've seen them for $200.00 bare, and your lights ect can swap to it. I have the old type plows 2 pins 2hoses 1 chain. Everything now seem to be is quick mount. Good luck
