The last time I moved, I came to a sad realization. The stuff in the house is easy to move as we became "better packrats". I move the house stuff in one 16ft enclosed trailer. Granted it was stuffed to the gills, but pretty impressed. Now the garage was a whole different animal. It took basically four trips. Wife was not happy. She knew I had alot of stuff in the garage, but according to her this was obsurd. I responded that she knew my garage was bigger than the house when you married me, what do you expect. Oh well, I have trimmed it down pretty good. Got rid of a lot of stuff just to make room for the '38.

14 years ago I moved from Mason City to the DM area. It took 2 trips with the big U-Haul (each trip equals a 1/2 semi load I believe) and the old van was loaded with each trip as well. Everything was as tight as possible - TOTALLY STUFFED!
I have moved twice since then but all local so tight packing and rush were not needed.
From now on tho, if I move, there will be some serious tossing out, selling, and giving away of items before I move... even if I have to promise my wife new stuff! All I will need is my tools and any vehicles that will drive away on their own.
