opinions for meets

Well, with the meets not working out lately, I am looking for individual opinions and thoughts about what you expect and/or want from a meet, and any suggestions about how to get one together. My thinking is that it would be better if there is more of a reason to come than just the meet to start with, until we can get bigger meets going. I may be wrong iun that line of thinking, it is how I personally feel, that it has more value if there is more to it. We can have it be all it's own, and make up some events or something, or we can get together and do something, or whatever, no issues, just that it would be nice to get SOMETHING going... The meets we had ended up being the same ol' crew, which was actually quite fun, but the point is to grow and expand... so I am looking for feedback as to what is expected or wanted. Multiple choices on the poll are able to be made as well.

Any and all sound fine to me. The only reason I haven't made it to a meet yet is scheduling conflict. At least the eastern meets.

they're all fine with me.

although meeting up to just talk and show the trucks would be cool. in the past i've noticed meetup threads go on for a while and then die off.

just a subjestion to fellro maybe you could name a exact date for a meet, theres gotta be others around like me who have no lifes, so anything and any day will work fine. then others can chime in with plans they may have for that day, and hopefully we could find a day that works for everyone.

once a offical date is decided then we could discuse places where we could meet, and then decide what to do during the meetup.

Any excuse to get together should work right? I'd be up for a summer show-n-shine, but the Ranger and Lincoln will get Garaged soon, I'd still come to see other peoples shined-up rides though! I'll try to be at any even that doesn't conflict, regardless of what it is, just any excuse to get a bunch of Ford Truck guys in one place seems like a good idea to me!

While it's great to have the trucks at meets, it is fully understandable that you can't always run the truck itself.. certainly not a requirement to show up. I'm kinda hanging on for a bit and see how it goes, it's pretty close on opinion to just get together to bs and not really have to plan anything specific. I know I really enjoyed the last meet in Des Moines, and that was simply bowling and BSing, I think more bs got done than bowling... If everyone is cool with doing something like that, have to see what we can get pulled together. Winter is best for that, then we'll have to see what we can come up with come summer time.

What??? You can't drive the Ranger there? Where's your sense of adventure? Doubt you could sneak around with that beast...

It's looking like just getting together itself is enough... still waiting on opinions, and wanted to light this title up again...

Just a thought, maybe we should have more regional meets to reduce the drive distance? It's a little tough to drive to Des Moines or Iowa City just to have a cup of coffee or a beer. I'd do it if circumstances were right, don't get me wrong, but an event would be a better justification for the long drive, and it's not like anyone couldn't come to a meet in any area of the state they wanted. I'm just throwing it out there, I won't be able to do any get togethers until after the first of the year, my fiance might be offended if I put an FTE meet before our wedding/honeymoon!

So what day is your wedding, maybe we could turn it into a meet!

Seriously though, it only takes two people to get a meet started. After that, odds are at least one or two others will show.

That actually has been discussed in the past, and I am open to people wanting to do it by all means, and highly encourage it. Unfortunately, for the most part, your area isn't as heavy with members, but there are some there. I'll have to give you a yell when I head out to SD again... Pay attention to the Nebraska chapter, they have a few across the river from you, as a matter of fact, their leader just took a job on Sioux City... Rob's a good guy, and will be happy to come hang with you. He's looking for advice about the area there too... (cowboywanabe is his screen name) https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ange-move.html
If you are interested in taking on the regional leader, to try and get with the guys in the area, it would be great, or just do it and don't worry about the title... Any member can call for meets, it does not have to be just me. If you want to make a little meet, just do it, don't worry about any official approvement... that goes for anyone.

Yeah, I know there aren't too many people in my area, which is odd 'cause there are a ton of hardcore ford guys in this area. A friend of mine was a member here a couple years ago, he's from the same town I am, he was active in the FE forum mainly, and some in the Diesel forum (his name was Fordman428 or something). Maybe when I get some time I'd be willing to be a regional leader, it depends on where I go to school. In any case, I definitly support any kind of get-together, be it an event or just a chance to show off my lame bowling skills! Just to plant the seed, I do get down to the Goodguys Heardland Nationals in Des Moines ever year in July, does that seem like a good time to try for a state meet???

I remember that name... I haven't made it to the Goodguys meets yet, would be a good thing for some. There are some that have issues with it, not sure if it was here or somewhere else I read others having issues with them...
