caster/camber settings for MII frontend
I am in the process of installing a Fat man's Mustang II frontend in my '56. 10 degrees of caster is "built in" to the kit. Just wondering what you guys are running in your trucks or if you know how some of the other brand kits are setup or what they recommend.
Thanks
Mark

caster/camber settings for MII frontend
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Oct-02 AT 11:23 AM (EST)]for a 53-56 F-100 kit Heidts recommends as follows
caster 7/8° plus/minus 3/4°
camber 1/2° plus/minus 3/4°
toe in 1/8" plus/minus 1/8"
also... use two 2" rack extensions instead of 1- 4" and do not use longer tie rod ends to widen track... When set up (and loaded)properly the lower a-arms should be horizontal to the ground. if they are lower use a stiffer spring... is above horizontal use a softer spring...
hope that helps

Remember that caster is affected by the rake of the truck. If they are measuring 10 degrees relative to the frame mounting, then this number will be reduced if the rear of the truck is higher than the front. Plus the alignment guy has some adjustment at the upper a-arm mount for this too. Lots of caster will give a good straight-ahead road feel. But it will also take more effort to turn it in a parking lot situation.
