flathead straight 6

I have an engine off an old ford 8n. Its a funk conversion to a 6 cylinder. I need a rebuild kit for it (Pistons, sleeves, seals, bearings, whatever comes in a rebuild kit). On both sides of the block, there is a piece of metel pressed on that says "L141". On the right side (looking from the fan) it says either FERRO or FERRS. It also says 1HA-6015A on the same side. Does anyone know where I could get a rebuild kit for this engine?? How can I tell if this engine is a ford???
Thanks,
brian

Brian,
I was hoping someone else would jump in here. I only have flat 8's, so I'm giving this my best guess. I know Funk made conversions for Ford V8s, and I've never heard that they made them for any other makes. Doesn't mean they didn't tho.
The 1HA number sounds like a Ford pn. Mac's Antique Auto Parts lists pistons, rings, bearings, sleeves, etc. for "H" series (48 - 51) 7HA, 0HA, and 1HA follows the numerical prefixes of the V8s
Website is http://www.macsautoparts.com/ and phone number is 1-716-433-1500
My guess would be that you have a 1951 engine there. If so, here are some dimentions that might help you narrow it down. 1HA 6050's had main journal's of 2.8732" and con rod journals of 2.2980
H Series were 95hp L-head engines with 3.3" cylinder bore and 4.4" stroke for 226 cid.
Thats about the best I can do. - tim

Your best bet for any infomation will be from a 8n collector/restorer. I found a book published in 97 titled "FORD N SERIES TRACTORS", which has a small section on the FUNK conversions for the 8N, but very little (none) of the technical data, other than it was a CONVERSION KIT.There is a list of "PARTS,SERVICE AND INFORMATION" that could be helpfull. If you tell me what state I could give a possiable address for one of them. Hope this is some help, and the engine is staying in an 8N. JJBlack

Brian, what have you been able to find out about the engine for your Funk? I bought one a few weeks ago and am trying to figure some things out myself. What carb is on yours? I'm also looking for a radiator and starter. any suggestions on where to find parts? Thanks.

You can try the [link:www.ytmag.com/|Yesterday's Tractor] web site. Yesterday's Tractor is to tractors that this site is to Ford trucks. They have a discussion board and pictures of tractors including a couple of Funk six cylinder conversions.
