Exclamation Flash or no Flash ?

I have a 2006 CC,SB, 4X4, PSD Lariat which I'm very fond of.

I need to take it in for a creeking rear window soon.

The motor was built 8-20-05, truck built shortly after. Delivery 8-25-06.

The truck has 4,000 miles on it and it runs super. 17 MPG mixed city/hwy is OK with me at this point.

My main question is what will the latest flash do? I heard it will cycle the injectors when switched off. My turbo vanes don't cycle at idle now.

What else will the flash do?

I don't want it to reduce power or MPG.

Should I have them flash the truck when I bring it in, or just keep my mouth shut?

Thanks in advance!

I have an '06 as well and I decided not to do the recall. There have been many posts of unhappy people that have had that done that either lost power, mileage or both. My dealer told me that it would not void the warranty if I opted not to do the recall.

Talking No worries . . .

I took delivery 8/29/05 and had the 05E16 flash done. I have had no issues BUT I run an SCT Xcal2 programmer all the time so that might have an effect.

Hey Lonewolftx, I don't mean to get of the "recall" subject, but what tunes do you have for you Xcal2? What do you use your truck for most of the time?

I have an early 05 with a comp code CNA1. It has only been to the shop once for the heater controls vacuumn pump. I like how my truck runs, so it will stay with the original flash for me. If it aint broke, dont fix it. just my 2 cents

I use a local SCT dealer here in Houston, Joe Cram of Omnisports(www.dynojoe.com) and he does custom tunes for my programmer; Aggresive Tow, Performance and Street. I use Performance most of the time as it gives the best MPG and it is there when I need to show off the trucks capabilities.

These latest tunes allow for turning off the EGR, adding a jake brake to to tow tune, and others. Also allow tire, gear, shift poitn, and presure point changes.

Love the programer and Joe keeps up with the tune. Another tuner folks use on this site is Innovative as Eric has a great rep for custom tunes. They all start with the factory tunes and then modify them.

Thanks a lot Lonewolftx! That sounds like the best tuner on the market, as I haven't heard anything negative about them and that it should be able to keep me in front of my buddies truck

Is your vehicle under a recall notice? If it is, what is the recall notice number. If it's not under a recall, they're not going to arbitrarially re-flash the computer.

SCT 9415b tuner

Just arrived today, will try all three basic tunes and report my findings. I will be trying them on a 2006 CC FX4 Lariat PSD. If they aren't to my liking, I plan to program the programmer into a 9400 and buy some custom tunes.

I'd love to have the newest flash with the injector cycling, however I'm afraid I'd have issues for other reasons. NOT BECAUSE THE REFLASH IS BAD!!! I'm just not sure what effect it would have on my programming so I'm leaving it alone.
