Since when did GM have reliability problems? they rank 3 and 4 under JD power (Toyota is 5th) and most company's have road side it's a nice thing to have.
IMO GM's have very good major mechanical items.(engines, transmissions, rear ends. etc) Things like waterpumps, alternators, etc. leave alot to be desired.
Between 1996-2006 I owned 4 Chevy trucks and other than scheduled maintenance and a few minor normal wear items on my high-mileage '96 Silverado, none ever saw the inside if a service dept.
Having changed brands only because I like the looks of the F-150 better, I'm just hoping my new Ford holds up as well...

Consider this: Many of GM's Buick and Cadillac customer are past 60...an age group that's seen it and heard it all. This age group is less likely to complain when the surveys are filled out.
So tell me this...if Buicks are so reliable...why does a three year old Buick have the worst resale value of any car sold in the US?
According to Automotive News...a three year old Buick retains about 35% of its original value.
Ya know, we are sooo busy worriying about Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge!! Why not worry that Ford and GM are closing plants and laying off OUR people because of the imports! I am not loyal to any make I have both Ford and GM:2005 Expedition 4x4,1997 Ranger Splash,1965 f250,1979 GMC k35 4x4,1972 Chevy c20 454,1970 Olds Cutlass 2dr ht.NO IMPORTS!
i like the lucerne i just would never spend that kind of money on one
What a crock...GM comes out with this tub...without offering power adjustable pedals and a telescopic steering wheel. When I spoke with the Buick rep in Detroit...her lame excuse was...the LeSabre and Park Avenue didn't offer them either.
I reminded her....that a new car had to be at minimum 25% better than the model it replaced...and that the competition...Toyota Avalon, Chrysler 300, etc offered both of these features.
Well it does have heated and cooled seats..and heated washer fluid.
And after all the rental fleets bought theirs..sales have been flat.
Most old people I know complain about the little thing more than any age group. Cadillac has gone to a younger age group so GM left Buick more simple which 60 year old people want. My friends grandfather always had Cadillacs but don't like the new style so he went to Buick which was GM's plan.
