Just like 10min ago i was on the internet and i had windows media playing like always. All of a sudden it stops playing the song and closes. So then i load windows media again aand start playing music as if nothing happened. It didnt even finish playing the song when it cut that song off as well and turned off again. I had a similar problem like this a while back and it was a virus. What do you think? My spyware scanner didnt pick up anything. Ill run a virus scan now but that takes like 20min to do.
Spybot found a few problems and fixed them. That still didnt remedy the windows media player problem. This isnt good. If this persists then ill have to fix this office space style.
Do you have Winamp? If not, go to oldversion.com and get a copy. Try Winamp to see if it does the same thing.
I don't care for the way Microsoft tries to control some of the things I do with my computer, so I look for alternative ways to do the same things. I use WMP for video, but I use Winamp for all the sound files.
DRM is Digital Rights Management. Just a fancy way of saying "WE will tell you you how to use your music files."

+1 for Winamp!!!!!
Plus, I like the 'skins' that can be used with them.
(I don't care too much for the new-fangled skins. I'm the kind of guy that likes the 'old radio' skin and the 'standard stereo' skin!)
RealPlayer is worse than MicroSoft for telling your computer how to run!
I can't disagree with that. I stopped using RealPlayer long ago, because I didn't like the way it kept trying to phone home and prompting me to allow it to send my info in.
I disabled everything I could find in the preferences, but I got tired of it. I don't even bother with files that require RP, and I don't have it installed on my box.
I unchecked all the automatic junk in WMP, especially the "copy protect music" and "acquire license" options. If I want to rip a CD I paid for to my MP3 player, I should be able to do it, doggone it. The recording industry makes enough money off the sale of a CD, they need to stop crying about it.
Winamp rules. I leave it in Classic mode, too. They all try to phone home, but it seems to be the least obtrusive and bothersome at the moment.
