I have a cam, headers, throttle body on my 351 conversion (was a 5.0) still running the 5.0 SDS and it runs great over 10,000 miles since the conversion was done.
awesome Denny, its all about picking the right parts. the lightning guys love there speed density and squeeze some crazy power out of it. with careful planning its all possible.
but you need a speed density ecu that will allow for changes to the ecu. most pre 92 speed density ecu's will not work.
Huh? AFAIK all EEC-IV's (whether SD of MAF) are "changable". Effectively, if the J3 port is active (ie "chip" plugged in) then the ecu will look at the port address for control table data and not the onboard memory.
The issue with any EEC-IV is knowledge of addresses are being used for the various tables for a specific program. I'll grant that it's more likely that fewer of the older SD programs have had there table addresses cracked. But...that doesn't mean that it hasn't been done, much less can't.
