First things first…I’m white and nerdy, I don’t listen to country music, but I sure love my F350 DRW. I needed a toe vehicle and a friend made me a deal I could not refuse, so now I own a super duty 2001 F350 DRW Lariat. OMG what a ride and what a truck! Does anyone have suggestions for things to look for when maintaining and servicing this truck? What is the most common failure with these trucks…transmissions etc.

What the heck??? At least you have a SD. Congratulations on that.
You didnt say if it was an auto or a manual, but if it is an auto you definatly what to keep that maintained. The early 2000s are know for tranny problems. Mine is also one of those unlucky few
Just today I traded my '02 7.3 2WD Crew Cab for an '06 6.0 4WD Crew Cab Lariat ... bought the '02 brand new in Sept of '01 with 12 miles on the odometer and whenever I traded today it had 251,754.6 trouble free miles, although I did recently replace the front and rear seals on the automatic transmission.
I can only hope the 6.0 does as well.
Routine service is the key.
Edie: I wonder why whenever I write 'seals' in the above paragraph the word gets eliminated whenever I try to post? That's weird.

It’s a Diesel with an automatic transmission. I’m not the gear head type but I do know what a camshaft is and how it works. I’m going to try and change the fuel filter myself so this will be a big challenge for me…any suggestions would be appreciated.
