I just got done swapping a dana 60 into a 89 f-250. The 60 is a little more than 3in. wider than the rear 10.25 I was just wondering how come.

they all are. its my theory that dana did this for dually applications. seeing as only 1 tons and heavier got the Dana 60 solid axle from the factory a lot of times they were used in dually configuration

Your truck was like that to start with, the D50 TTB is 3" wider just like the D60, the 44, I'll have to measure, but, it too is wider.
