99 Overdrive Problem...

99 Overdrive Problem...
the overdrive button never has really worked properly since i got the truck, but overdrive has always stayed on, so it wasnt much of a problem... until recently. twice in the past week, when ive started up, the light for "Overdrive Off" came on, and i tried to turn it off, but it wouldnt go off, so i shifted into drive and the light finally went off. however, overdrive stayed off, even though the light wasnt on. i figured out i have to keep turning the truck off and on in park until the light goes off (while still in park). any suggestions on how to tackle this?
