I bought my 2001 F150 Lariat with 99000 miles two years ago, last year I noticed that after the engine is in normal operating temperature, I feel a chatter like vibration for a second or two when taking off while turning left or right from a traffic light or stop sign, I know it soung crazy but I have not noticed it when I'm heading streight. Had the transmission flushed at the local ford dealer (no need to mention how much I paid) and it is still doing it. Is this a symptom of possibly needing a new transmission soon? Also lifted both front wheels and they turn freely. Please advice.
What you're describing is usually caused by the limited slip clutches in the rear differential. When you take off in a straight line the clutches are just going along for the ride. When you turn the clutches are working.
I would start by changing the rear diff oil and adding the proper friction modifier additive to the oil. Your dealer will have the friction modifier in stock. The rear diff takes 75W140 oil which is also available from your dealer or from any good parts store.
If changing the oil and adding the friction modifier doesn't cure it you'll probably have to replace the limited slip clutches.
