Hello all, I just bought this truck knowing there was something wrong with the tranny, and the rear brake line has a major leak I wiil change the tranny if need be, but after reading your articalels it seems to me the computer controls the way the tranny operates. The truck starts fine and idles great, but once i put it into gear it doesnt want to go, but the engine revs good as i apply the fuel. the fluid is 2 inches above the full line, so im in the process of draining it. What im wondering about is if the copmuter operats the unit, then if theres any little [or big] problem anywhere else in the system [not even related to the tranny] then that would cause problems in the computer system. Like I said earlier My rear brake line needs to be repaired, and the brake line is on all the time. Would that cause my computer to make my tranny no operate correctly.

Do you know if the front pump is shot yet. Pull off one of the tranny fluid lines at the radiator and see if it pumps out with the engine on first. Helps to have a secound person in the truck to shut it off if the fluid pumps, makes a big mess but you can rule it out.

So I just got in from pulling the tranny lines. and yes there is fluid comeing out with the engine running. Took enough fluid out to be in between the dip stick lines. { it was 1 and 1/2 litres to much. I cant say it had the best pressure but taking into account the weather-10c. [ i should have warmed it up first i guess. At the moment im reseting the computer, just in case a sensor detected the high fluid level. Hopefully that works...... Crossing my fingers! Any other simple ideas??? Your thoughts are greatly welcome.

sounds like you have a valve body problem with the tranny, better start looking for a good shop, make sure they are BBB listed.

Does the transmission eventually engage when you move the shifter to any position other than P or N?

yes sir. it has reverse, no problems there!, in drive {od} it will engage, but not much power, i could rev it but it will only move a bit. if i drop it into first it does engage and has more power than drive but not much.I managaed to drive it home like that but had to stop two times inorder to reset the computer. Thats why i thought i could be an electrical issue.
