After talking with the driver it was going to a scrap yard. There is an airplane bone yard somewhere in Nevada/Arizona?? that has thousands of bodies. I guess they are used for testing and who knows what else. I suppose you can't buy anything there for a flying project, but would be a good source for a static display project.
Ya that's right, I forgot about Stapleton. They would have a little news blip everytime they did it. Good firefighting training. Do you know if they still have it there?? Or was it moved to DIA?? Just curious, might have to go by and look....
Oh crap! LOL What has not been developed has been razed for developement. Some of the old buildings on Quebec are still there; I think it's Frontier's training center.
Yeah, you ought to come up. That big sporting goods store is North of the highway, place is HUGE.
I think they have an airplane boneyard at the Mojave Airport in Mojave, Ca.
That's the place.... Following one of the links from the site, I saw a used 747 taking off going somewhere. So if you had the money, you could buy something that actually flies?? I thought once they landed there, they stayed there. The one 747 shown taking off was going to an overseas country. Will they put it in service, even though the original owner felt it was beyond it's life span. Scary thought if true
no, the bone yard i beleive is also the same place where airlines from around the world store planes during low business or off cycle higher demand seasons.
also, airlines store their planes there when they replace them with newer ones but the older ones are still within their service life and sold to other poorer airlines on the market for used planes.
also the need for cargo planes is booming, so alot of the bigger ones get converted from passenger to cargo when they get older and replaced with updated planes.
