i blew a brake line on my truck, repaired that and as my master cylinder was leaking at the rear seal i installed an remanufactured one. the truck does have a.b.s. by the way.. i have bled until i am blue in the face trying to get a good pedal; i have now thinking that my new cylindeer is defective, does anyone know of a easy way to prove the master cylinder.i am getting no air when bleeding sam
i seem to be able to get good pressure when the engine is not running, but as soon as i start the engine pedal goes to floor with next to no resistance. unplugging the abs makes no difference. it seems to be direcxtly related to thje increased pressure on the cylinder when the engie is running. with the engine running and vacum hose to booster unhooked i have pedal. i have tried alternatively tried leaving one line from the m.c. hooked to the system and plugging the other and then reversing the process and i get good pressure with the back line plugged and next to no pressure with the front plugged regardless of whether the engine is running or not.the m.c. is free of air
Check to make sure you haven't slipped a pad on the front, if you have disks that is.
I experienced this and the result was no brakes, full load and approaching an intersection with major highway. Fix was simple reseat the pads. But the causual factor in the whole thing was a failed wheel bearing.
