sorry for such a stupid question but i just got my truck and i starting to work all of the bugs out of it had a miss so i checked the plugs and 3 of them were lose. it str=arted to tighten them then opnce they went in a little bit my socket was to big to fit in the space on the head . what can i use to get in there and tighten them up. also what is the chance of stripping one of these out. thanks
No question is a stupid question but how about a not so bright answer.....You need a special tool. There are special sockets that are especially made for spark plugs, is that the one you are using. I am not an expert and dont know what the are called. The sockets I have are two sizes and each one has a rubber plug on the inside to save the.......porcelain? Does that show my age. I also bought these on a T handle years ago that have a nice swivel.
The second question I am going to answer with an example from my Air Force tech boo k on torque. Hey I am entitle cause I was a transportation operator in the Army Reserve. With a standard screw driver you can put over 90 units of torque on a screw( I think it was inch pounds but I am not sure so I will use units).
The spark plugs are in either aluminun or iron threads and if you do damage those uh dont.
