I need a duplicate key

I live in Mexico and need to get a duplicate key made for a 2001 f150 (American Made) Can I do this by sending the VIN # to a Ford dealer?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming you have the PATS security system factory installed...

You will need to take the truck either to a Ford dealer or a very well equipped locksmith, same as if you were in the US or Canada.

I had a duplicate key made for my 2001 F150. I bought the truck used and it came with 2 keys. After reading about the PATS system here on the boards I decided I needed a 3rd key made, luckily I had 2 working keys so all I had to do was go get the blank cut and programmed it myself.

if you only have 1 key now, you must go to the dealer to have a second made and programed to work on your truck. i would always keep 3 keys, just incase 1 is lost. If you are down to 1 key, you have a problem.
