Electric Fan HELP!!!!!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jul-02 AT 11:35 PM (EST)]Okay guys,

I finally got the radiator from Mid-Fifty.com and I dont have room for the mechanical fan/clutch fan....so I need an electric fan that mounts to the radiator without damaging the fins on the radiator. Believe me, spending $300 for a radiator means no modifying it for a fan. Does anybody know what type of electric fan that can mount to a radiator, that has adjustable mounts without damaging it???? Or, does anybody know what type of vehicle I need to raid in a junkyard to get the mounting brackets????

Electric Fan HELP!!!!!!

I had good luck with a fan out of an 84 shi&y cavalier or celebrity. The radiators are pretty wide and all front wheel drive cars had them. And there are plenty of them in the junk yard (right where they should be).

You still might have to fabricate some kind of bracketry.

Also make sure to use a relay, you don't want your car to continue to run after you have cut the power to the ignition.

Electric Fan HELP!!!!!!

James:
I have the same issue for my 48 F1. I do not want to use a thru core mounting system and i have not been able to find a clean install to mount to the radiator flange. Everything I have found is too narrow and would require a thru core mount. However..

A company called Cooling Components offers a fan and shroud for our trucks. Their part number is CCI-40. You will need 4 1/4 inches between the radiator and pulleys and the fan puts out 2700 CFM. I saw this rig in a Parr Automotive parts catalogue. They have an online store. Kind of pricey though at $209!

I am currently working on a column install and have not gotten around to really checking it out yet. Let me know what you find out if you look into it.

My $.02:
I want a shroud. Last thing I want is a cooling issue, especially running AC and automatic tranny.
Would definately use a relay. check out the amp draw.
Use a puller type fan. Why exhaust hot engine compartment air thru the radiator?
I am going to use a preset "install and forget about it" temp sensor. You can use an adjustable. The only ***** I want to fiddle with is on the CD player while driving.

You probably already know all of this stuff. I post here to get others feedback to make sure/validate that I am on the right track. So..please critique.

Tim

Electric Fan HELP!!!!!!

Sacramento Vintage Ford sells a very nice shrowded fan that needs only four small holes drilled on the outside edges of the stock radiator. Puller is better and must have relay to keep from blowing fuses. This keeps my 54 with a 289 and c4 cool. John

Electric Fan HELP!!!!!!

Gentlemen,

Update as follows - i have installed a clutch fan that works okay for now and haven't experienced any cooling problems. The radiator is a desert cooler with the 302 so there should be no problems keeping my 54 cool. Still thiinking about using that electric fan in the front of the radiator and have it suck and push from the clutch. Any other suggestions will be gratelful. She is running like a bat-out-of-hell!!! Will have updated pics soon.
