Has anyone used the Cooper STT tires in either LT275/70 R18 or the 35-12.50x18? I'm wondering how the tires are in snow. Also, are the 35-12.50x18 too wide for the stock rim? I have the chrome clad steel rims on the truck.
I purchased Cooper STT tires for my 2005 F350. I have approx. 2000 miles on them and I'm impressed with the ride, low noise level and no hydroplaning. They are very good in sand. I run them on the beach in Virginia. I can't wait until it snow's! They look nice on the truck. When mine ware out I will replace them with Cooper tires.
I don't have experience w/ them in the size you spoke of but I do have them on my Jeep and I like them. They're great in the rain but it hasn't snowed here yet so I don't know about that. really nice off road. I just put Toyo Open Country M/T's on my F350 and they're awesome. Similiar to the Cooper but w/ bigger sidelugs and 10 ply instead of 8.
I was looking for a 35X12.5R18 for my truck, but really didn't want a mud tire. So after tons of research I ended up finding ProComp Xtreme A/T's in 35X12.5R18. They are also made by Cooper Tire.
All I can say is they look great, very agressive looking, fit the stock 8" rim perfectly and are in my opinion quiter than the stock Goodyears.
You will like the tire I have seen them and they are nice! Did you look into the Pro Comp recall? My sons tires were recalled. He had to cut a 6" plug out of each tire to send in for replacements. We had a good time getting tires for his truck for two weeks. he had over 30,000 miles on them and they were not 1/2 worn down. I hope my Coopers last that long. We rotate the tires every 3-4 thousand miles.
Yes, I did look into the Pro Comp recall. The way I looked at it is all major manufacturers will have a recall at some time. Plus you have to figure it was only a hand full of tires that were recalled compared to the millions they make each year. Needless to say I am very pleased.
The tires Pro Comp recalled on my sons truck had a hard 40,000 miles and they were very good it almost killed me to use a hole saw on the tires! You got nice tires. And don't they make you feel better with them?
I talked with a fella in a Jeep that had those STTs on it.. He said they were loud and wore down quickly.. I didn't ask how many miles he had on them, but they were very worn. It's interesting to see most of you like them. I wonder if I should put them back on the list.
My Coopers are very quiet. The guys at my work can't get over how quiet they are. I wanted a soft tried so the trade off is faster ware. The ride is nice much better than stock tires.I have rotated the tires twice and the tires shows very little ware.I will purchase them again.Bur 37" next time!
I had Micky Thompson's on my truck back in the late 70's early 80'S. Before there were radials. At that time the tires limited in size and not many people had them. The road noise was awesome! It was the noise that made the truck that an no muffler. How things changed today. Now at my age it's all I can do to get in and out of my Ford and my wife OH GOD what a struggle for her but she has been getting in my tall trucks for 32 years why change now!
