electrical nightmare
has anyone have this problem with there 00 excursion:
it rained hard one night,then my ABS warning light came on and stayed on
now here's the crazy part:every now and then,the overdrive light starts to blink on and off for about 30/45 sec.now while it's doing that the speedometer will not work..

There is a sensor on top of the rear diff. It is called the Vehicle Speed Sensor or VSS. Replace it and the problems should go away.
It is easily removed and it fairly cheap. >$30 I would inspect the wiring while your under there, too.

I've heard that the VSS does not always require replacement, and that sometimes a good cleaning of the surface facing inside the differential will solve this problem. If this problem is coming and going sporadically, I'd suspect a cleaning is what's needed. If it was a continuous problem, then replacement might be the solution.

Do you mean on the truck or the replacement part?

BTW, the two problems you have may not be related. The VSS should fix the shifting & speedo error but you may still have an ABS sensor bad or something. Pull the VSS and clean as suggested above if you cannot get your hands on the part today.

update: replaced the ABS sensor on thursday the 9th, took the truck on a 750 mile round trip, started the truck and no ABS light, it's been 4 days now and hundreds of miles ans no light, no blinking over drive light, and speedometer works..
