Yeah, we all know about them. Ones like my boss. He goes away on a two week vacation and comes back to work with this cold /flu crap snotting and sneezing all over the workplace. Now I have it , my wife does, and about every 4 th employee at work has it. All he needed to do was stay at home one or two more days until his temperature was down and not be so contagious...
I can just hear all those sickies now in response saying .....
Who ME ??? Although I have gadoogles of sick days accumalated ?? Yeah right dude, I am much toooo valuable of a employee to stay home when I am sick. I use my sick days /PTO time to have fun on ". EOR

what if he had SARS? nowadays you could could come into contact with an infected person, board a plane, and not start showing symptoms of whatever horrible disease until back in your own country.
wow, how nice it must be to work in a place that when even being sick someone still wants to come to work!
i was sick one time ever while my 9 years in the military, and all i wanted was the morning physical training off and forbid that! it was go to the doctor and get a medical slip and have the whole day off or nothing. that must have been that "military intelligence" everyone talks about.
Used to be if someone was sick they could stay home. In this day and age workplaces are getting alot stricter about their attendance policies. I have went to work too sick to stand due to fear of losing my job. The direction workplaces are going in with attendance policies is not good. If someone gets sick it causes alot of collateral damage.
Most of the jobs I have had typically chastise you for missing, but yet tell you if you are sick, not to come as you will get others sick, but give you heck if you call in... Which do they want?????
yeah,i get ONE,everybody count out loud ONE paid personal day off. you miss more than 3 days in 6 months, you get wrote up,miss 3 again, hello unemployment line, and no calling in to use a vacation day at the last minute if something comes up,they have to be planned at least 3 days in advance. The only good thing about the attendance policy is that if you work six hours, then go home,it doesn't count againt your attendance. i have used that several times when I have been sick.
I'm no skipper either, it doesn't pay the bills, but when flu season kicks in hot and heavy, people need to be off, or productivity will drop, as people are flat on their backs sick as can be...
Where I work, we get 5 sick days a year. If you take one you are suspect. If you take two without a doctors note you get witten up. If you take the third you damn well better be in the hospital or morg, or you WILL get fired.
Hahaaahaaa. In March of this year I had a heart attack. I missed ten days of work. They fired me. Hahhhhhaaaaahahaha. I am back to work with the same company, with 100,000 bucks in my pocket from them. Now work ain't the same. I get treated bad a lot. But shoot soon I am going to give them a 5 minute, notice. Like this. Bye guys, today I am calling in rich! And ya'lls don't get any of my last works reports!

Reason: profanity masking removed
Self-employed. I used to take all kinds of days off. Now I have to be half-dead (puking or squirting) or have a 100+ fever before I'll pack it in. I often feel better if I work through something--sweat it out.

That's true, sick employees should stay home, if they are truly sick & contagious.
A sick employee doesn'tdo much for production.
We had a guy at our job taht never missed work during his tenure.
He was quite proud of his record.
When his mom died,he just took off long enough for the funeral & came back to work that same day.
