Should I be Concerned!?!?!
I have an '86 F-250 with a 6.9L in it. The truck has 140K original miles on it. I was pulling the injectors today to go and have them tested because I suspect that they are bad. Anyway this is the first time I have ever pulled these injectors and there were about three of them with a little oil on the tip of the injectors and there was one (number 6 injector) that was COVERED in oil. All of the injectors had some black powder residue on them. Anyway I was just wondering if I should be concerned with any of this. Does the oil on the injectors mean my seals are COMPLETELY gone or is there something I could be checking to solve this mystery. I guess I just want to know how bad is this news. Am i about to have to do a complete engine overhaul or is this normal and have a simple fix. I just wanst sure what you guys have seen before. Thanks

On occasion the diesel fuel will leak into the injector/head bore from above when a line is disconnected, when you remove the injector it runs down. If your having them tested you will be told if there is a problem......otherwise not to worry.
