Houston, let's get it on.........

So we've had one Houston get together in forever (at least, that I know of) that consisted of myself and Chris, aka BROKEBRONCO. That's just not befitting the largest city, in the greatest State Chapter in FTE.

So now that the weather's cooler, how bout a meet and great? I'd really like to check out some of ya'lls rides. I'd share as well of course. I'm still a little new to the Houston area, so tips on parts yards and performance shops and such would be welcome as well.

So who's interested? Where we meeting? What we doing? We could meet at my place, or Hooters, a park, or even a part yard to go look for goodies.

JD What kind of get together are you looking for? There are a few in Houston monthy and weekly. What kind of iron you into ? The new stuff, were you just have to add wheels and accessories. They are nice. But thats not me, I never go to new truck meets. My thing is early iron. And I take pride in building trucks from ground up. Yea it takes longer, but its a diffrent type of pride to. Just like you know some guys are into racing cars/trucks, but not many that are into drag racing will even think about going to watch roundy rounders. Same in trucks. Most the guys I know are into early iron stuff, like pre-60s stuff. And would never go to a meet or show were late model trucks get together.

I have interest and can appreciate all things automotive. My personal area of specialization (you might say) is 1967-1972 Fords.

I'm just talking about getting the guys from here at FTE together in the Houston area. But it's open to discussion. Last time, me and Chris just met at Hooters, shot the breeze, showed off our trucks and checked out a car show that was being held there.

If we're really desperate for ideas, everyone can come over to my place and help sand down my ugly mutt of a truck. It could really use a uniform color. :P

Well Jd As you know Houston is huge and a pain in the neck to drive in. I think people know it by its crazy drivers. Can I ask what part of town your from. north,nw.sw,se,ne ? Although I know guys, from all over Houston. Most are from N.W.
Some are FTE members, and have early trucks in the gallery. Ever been by Goober's Garage off 1960. They have some nice stuff. Some are show material, but they are all driven. They are just old country boys out for fun. If interested, let me know. Get hold of FTE member "WhyNot". Send a message,or if you can't. Let me know I will get you the Goober's shop phone number. They enjoy guys stopping by for a chat or visit. Mostlikey you seen some of them, at the NW race track swap meet, or the NW car show,Sat nights. I case you don't know the fall Conroe swap meets coming up soon, Its a 2 day deal. Also if you got work you can't do, they can help. About all I seen there is mid-60s stuff and earlier. Later !

That's some good info Magic. I'll have to check out some of those places and events. When is that Conroe swap meet?

I live on the SE side. If we can get some interest for a get together, then we can see where everyone's from then and decide on a good location. I don't mind driving. It's just a good way to get the FTE people together, since we obviously all have shared interests.

Well, good news and bad news. Bad news is I won't be able to make the Conroe Meet, because of my good news.

Which is that I bought a Bronco. It's a project for sure, but at the price I got it, I think I'll make out alright. Feel free to check it out here if you'd like. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3873%26fvi%3D1

Or, try ebay # 270045413873.

At any rate, I'll have to go and pick it up that weekend. Unless someone's coming in to Houston or Nacogdoches from the Corpus Christi area?

Looks like a nice truck you got working up there. I have two 67's now as well as some parts trucks and a couple others that have passed through my hands. What part of town are you located? I'm on the SE side. My 67 is sitting in the garage waiting for me to have time to fix the trans leaks and swap out the master cylinder for a power booster and master cylinder.

What is this Conroe meet that y'all speak of? Where is it held? Can anyone come? I am in Willis and would like to meet us with some of you. Let me know and I am there.

Hey Texan,

I'm in that area. Sageglen subdivision, right off of Gulf and BW8. Very close to Scarsdale and Beamer if you know where those are. My wife and I actually looked for a house in the Friendswood/Pearland areas, but had to stay closer in to keep our drive short.

71100,
My wife's from Texas City and we're down there pretty often.

Maybe we could get a Southside Houston meet or something.

I'm up for it. As you can tell from my signature, I like my trucks old and new, big and small.
