Does anyone know the proper but most practical way to flush powersteering fluid.
Well I can't say I know the proper way - I haven't even tried it yet, but I think I'll want to soon.
I've done it in my car (Audi) and this is how I did it:
The reservoir has an inlet and and outlet - I took the inlet and disconnected it, and sucked what was in the reservoir out with a pump. Filled it with new PS fluid, put the hose that was connected to the inlet into a big container, and started the car. Let it ran just for a few seconds and shut it off. This was enough to pull the reservoir almost dry and pushed more fluid into my container. I repeated this about 2-3 times (until the container I had was filled to the system capacity).
I guess the Ford would be similar? Audi is rack & pinion and the truck is recirculating ball, but I would guess they would still be similar...
