Over the past 2-3 months I've noticed a hard to turn condition with my steering after having driven awhile. It's almost like losing power steering altogether. It doesn't happen all of the time nor does it happen on start-up or while the engine is at driving rpms....only at idle speed as when pulling into a parking lot slot. Kind'a strange - my first thought was that some of the pump valving may be sticking intermittently. Any ideas?
Our PS pumps are barely adequate when brand new. It's somewhat normal for these things to be difficult to turn at low speeds, especially when the brakes are also in use. A new pump probably will help, but it will take an upgraded pump to actually "cure" the problem.

There was some talk of an upgarded pump by AGR i believe that Autozone sold (part number is on other laptop at work) but you had to modify the braket to get it to mount.
I have been bugging Bob at Dieselsite to look into a "Pulse" PS pump and he said once he was finished with the HPOP he would look into it.

Thanks Amiller, good to know....Another question, has anyone tried to locate a smaller pully?
I have done a few seerpentine config pumps and have never noticed any signifigant difference in pully size from model vehicle to the next but maybe I will have to take a walk around the old upullit see is anything looks promising. That would be a cheap fix only the cost of the pully and a smaller belt.
