I tried it. I am now back to 1.5 because of bookmark issues. I couldn't get it to import them from 1.5 nor would it add new ones. Not sure if it's a true problem or just compatibility issues with my extensions/themes (some weren't 100% for sure compatible). Reinstalled 1.5 and everything is back to normal.
I've spent far too much time getting everything set just how I want it to trade for the few upgrades on the new version, some of which I didn't like. Maybe after a few months/updates I'll try it again.
I've been surprised to find how many people don't use or even know about the extensions, themes and customizing available. Going back to the standard Firefox set-up is now almost as frustrating as when I have to use IE (to, for instance, view Ford's sites correctly...get with the times FMC).
tdister I had the same problem as you. mozillazine.org has a Sticky posted on how to fix it. Been there, done it, not to hard to fix. Thought I had lost ALL my bookmarks, but got them all back. Had about 150+ bookmarks + passwords gone. Easy to do ONCE you get there. Next time I will wait for the auto-update so I don't have to mess with bug357922. Hopes this helps.oad?
I downloaded 2.0 yesterday as so far no trouble with it. The only thing taking some getting used to is "X" to close the tabs. I kind of like the built in spell check. As far as themes and extensions go, it told me that the ones in 1.5 weren't compatible so I didn't even bother trying to keep them. A whole new list is available for 2.0 anyway. No bookmark issues or anything, just imported everything right over, no problems.
tried it... still aiming to be an Opera, but it just aint. Opera 9 still rocking my socks. Inpenetrable security. Or, maybe no one tries... Solid as a rock stable. FF 2.0 seems like a 'catch up' release to Opera.

Interesting. I installed 2.0 and my bookmarks and passwords, even the browsing history, all carried over with no further action on my part. I did back them up just to be safe, but I didn't encounter any problems.
I think the only extension that didn't transfer over was FasterFox, and I understand that can be made to work by tweaking one of the config files for the extension. There again, I only have a handful of extensions on both my machines so I'm sure my install was far less complex than many people.
Maybe I'm missing something here. Why would I need a spell checker in a browser? To find how illiterate some page writer was? Nothing I could do about that.
I have a spell checker in my HTML editor now, so I can catch myself from doing that, but why would I want to catch others?
after seeing that i went to the website and thought about dl'ing it but didn't because i didn't know what would happen to my bookmarks.then i saw the bugfix on the site so maybe i'll try it.mine says it's version 1.7 now.

It checks your spelling, such as when you're typing a response here. It doesn't check any of the spelling in the web pages themselves. I must admit its pretty nice, because most of my spelling mistakes are usually caused by me typing too quickly and just fat-fingering the keyboard or making other common spelling mistakes.
